Steel Pan

Steel pan is a type of percussion instrument originating from Trinidad and Tobago, made from tuned steel drums that produce melodious, vibrant sounds. At Meyer Levin School for the Performing Arts, learning to play the steel pan offers students a unique opportunity to engage in rhythm, melody, and cultural expression. Through this experience, students develop musical skills, teamwork, and discipline, while also gaining an appreciation for Caribbean culture. The collaborative nature of steel pan ensembles fosters creativity, communication, and confidence, all while encouraging students to connect with the global art form of pan music.
